The Start Sailing 1 & 2 course is designed for teens who wish to learn to sail in a dinghy. DPSS runs the combined Start Sailing 1 & 2 course for teenagers who sail in groups of three with an instructor in our RS Quests. It’s a great way to meet new friends and have the chance to sail with others in your group. You will learn the fundamentals of sailing, sailing terminology, basic weather theory, knot tying, launching and returning to shore, capsizing and tacking and gybing.

The cost for the Start Sailing 1 & 2 holiday course is $360 + website administration fees.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 And Start Sailing 2 completion certificate. 

 

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
